Garage demolition and new garage builds
Tear down a garage that is past saving, rebuild it, or build a new one, with the roof done by the same crew.
Chapter 01
When a Detroit garage is past saving
Some garages can be patched, and some are finished. The signs are hard to argue with: a ridge that sags between the end walls, rotted sill plates where the wall meets the slab, a roof that has leaked for years and soaked everything under it, doors that no longer close square because the frame has moved. When the structure is the problem, new shingles on top are money spent on a building that is still failing.
We start with a free inspection, and we'll tell you straight whether repair makes sense or the garage has to come down. Ted Thompson built T&M Roofing on honest assessments, and a garage is where that counts, because the honest answer is sometimes not the one a homeowner hoped to hear. Call (313) 600-4538 and we'll set a time to look at it, Monday to Saturday, 8 to 6.

Tear-down, rebuild, or a new garage
There are three jobs here. Demolition takes the old structure down and hauls it away, leaving the site clear for what comes next. Reconstruction rebuilds on the footprint you already have, reusing what is still sound. A new garage build puts up a fresh structure sized and styled for the lot, and the roof goes on it as part of the same job, not as a handoff to a stranger.
Because we are a roofing company first, the roof is where we don't compromise: a shingle system from Owens Corning, TAMKO or GAF, decking checked, drip edge and flashing set properly, the same crew finishing what it started. A garage roof treated as an afterthought is why so many old ones failed. One crew carrying the build from the first board to the last ridge cap leaves no gap where one trade blames another.
Chapter 03
Planned on paper before a wall comes down
A garage project starts with a free inspection and a written estimate, the same as a roof. The estimate sets out the scope, the materials and the work in writing, so what is coming down and what is going up are never a matter of memory. We will beat any written estimate from a licensed and insured roofer, and that is worth saying on a bigger job, where comparing estimates matters most.
Scheduling is worked out with you around the rest of the household, since a garage often holds a car, a workbench and years of stored things. The work is covered by our 10-year labor warranty, and T&M Roofing works under Michigan licence #262400794, fully licensed and insured. Anything the city or township needs to sign off on for your address is worth confirming early, and we'll talk it through when we look at the site.

What the written estimate covers
Free, in writing, signed before work starts. The roof line reads the same as on a new roof installation or a roof replacement.
The teardown
What comes down, what is hauled away, and what stays if the site is being kept.
The rebuild or the new build
The structure, its size and what is reused, written down so nothing is left to memory.
The roof
Shingle system, decking, drip edge and flashing, done by the same crew that built it.
